Joyce and Parsons pleased that House of Assembly confirms approval of office rental issue

August 18, 2006

Eddie Joyce, MHA for the District of Bay of Islands, and Kelvin Parsons, MHA for the District of Burgeo-Lapoile, are pleased that the House of Assembly has confirmed that they had full knowledge of and consented to the constituency office arrangements in the districts of both MHAs.

In a letter written yesterday by the Clerk of the House of Assembly, John Noel confirms that both MHAs had approval from the House of Assembly to rent the office space in question.

"I am pleased that Mr. Noel has cleared the air on this issue," said Mr. Joyce. "I have been totally up front regarding this issue and stated from day one that I had approval from the House of Assembly to rent this office space. I have continuously stated publicly that I lived by the rules that were in place and will continue to do so. If the current rules change, I will certainly follow those guidelines."

"I have always known John Noel to be a man of strong character and I had no doubt that he would verify the truth," said Mr. Parsons. "I continuously maintained that I did nothing wrong and yesterday’s letter has proven that fact."
