Ball asks government to update review of
radiologist reports
July
5, 2007
Dwight Ball, Opposition Health and Community Services Critic and MHA for the
District of Humber Valley, is calling on government to provide an update on the
reviews of radiologist reports currently taking place on the Burin peninsula and
central Newfoundland.
"The uncertainty surrounding inaccurate radiologist reports in Burin and
Gander are still raising serious concerns with many people in the province,"
said Mr. Ball. "While we know the reviews are ongoing, government has not given
the people of the province any clear details of the error rate that was
discovered.
"For people who may be directly impacted by these reviews, patience will only
last so long. There are many anxious people waiting to hear the magnitude of
inaccuracies and whether they will have to undergo further testing because of
possible mistakes. These incidents were discovered almost two months ago and we
still have no clear answers as to what happened and why.
"With the recent problems that have been detected in our health care system,
we must learn from these mistakes. I am calling upon Minister Wiseman to provide
an update as soon as possible so everyone in the province will understand the
magnitude and circumstances surrounding these incidents."
