Opposition Leader announces|
shadow cabinet

Roger Grimes, Leader of the Official Opposition, today announced the shadow cabinet that will monitor and critique the actions and decisions of the current government during their term of office.

"Our caucus members have a great deal of experience and knowledge regarding the various portfolios of government," said Mr. Grimes. "I fully expect our members to provide strong, effective opposition and alternatives on behalf of the people of the province. We will ensure that government is held fully accountable for all their decisions and policies."

The following shadow portfolios have been assigned to each caucus member:

Roger Grimes - Premier and Intergovernmental Affairs

Kelvin Parsons- Justice and Attorney General, Mines and Energy, Opposition House Leader

Roland Butler - Human Resources and Employment, Deputy Opposition House Leader

Percy Barrett - Environment and Labour

Oliver Langdon - Municipal and Provincial Affairs

Judy Foote - Industry Trade and Rural Development, Business

Eddie Joyce - Tourism, Culture and Recreation, Forest Resources and Agrifoods, Chair of the Public Accounts Committee

Yvonne Jones - Health and Community Services, Labrador Affairs, Status of Women, Member of the Public Accounts Committee

Anna Thistle - Finance and Treasury Board, Youth Services and Post-Secondary Education

Gerry Reid - Fisheries and Aquaculture, Education, Member of the Public Accounts Committee

George Sweeney - Government Services and Lands, Opposition Whip

Wally Andersen - Works, Services and Transportation, Aboriginal Affairs, Labrador Affairs
